The North of England wedding Awards in association with The Wedding Guide UK are Yorkshire and North East England’s most prestigious awards for client service excellence. The Awards recognise those businesses which go the extra mile for their customers, providing outstanding service and inspiring their customers to want to actively and positively promote them.

Judging Criteria

Customer Reviews – When considering entering be aware that your customers will be judging your business on its demonstrated proven ability to provide:

Individual winners and finalists reflect on the quality standards of all Award winners and finalists.

Analysis of your customer reviews will be carried out by a panel of judges.

How the awards work?

To enter you need to register by filling out the online entry form.

We will send you a confirmation email and can provide you with cards to hand out to customers, asking them to vote for you. These cards will contain information about how your customers can vote for you online.

Your customers can visit this website to review your service and post a comment about why you should win.

Finalists are chosen by a process of quantitative analysis of your customer feedback scores.

Winners are decided from qualitative analysis of the comments from your customers.

Step 1

You need to submit your entry before your customers can post a review.

To be eligible to enter the North of England Wedding Awards you must have premises in or provide your services from home to customers in Yorkshire or North East England.

You must supply the wedding industry in one of the categories listed. You may enter into more than one category.

You may enter as either a new business or under one of the trading business categories. Not as a trading business AND a new business.

Entries may be taken from individual stores or outlets, therefore if your business has two shops and they both enter it is possible that both shops could compete against each other in the final.

Please ensure you enter under the correct categories.

Voting may only be carried out by actual consumers not businesses. The awards are ‘peoples choice’ and votes will be verified. Only bona fide couples will be permitted to place a review.

Your customers will judge you on demonstrating the following within your business:

  • Excellent Service
  • Product Quality
  • Value for Money
  • ‘Going the Extra Mile’

Step 2

Select your category, and the area you would like to be entered in. Complete the awards entry form online. Submit your entry.

Step 3

Once we have received your entry, we will send you a confirmation e-mail and cards to be handed out to your customers detailing how they can vote for you.

Step 4

Speak to your customers and ask them to review your business.

You will receive the reviews after the awards.

Each company will receive a score, calculated by adding each vote score together and dividing it by the number of votes received.

We will select highest scoring businesses per category as finalists. These will be announced on Friday 12th August by email to all entrants.

The Gala Dinner Award Ceremony for The North of England Wedding Awards 2016 will be held on Monday 19th September at York Racecourse. At the Ceremony the winners will be announced and they will be presented with their award.

The judges will base their decision on the Customer comments in relation to the four key measures listed in step 1.

The judge’s decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered in to.

Terms, Conditions & FAQs

Companies submitting an entry must provide services to brides within Yorkshire or North East England.

Companies entering must supply the wedding industry in one of the following 19 categories:

2. Cakes and Sweet Treats
3. Cars and Carriages
4. Catering
5. Entertainment
6. Health and Beauty
7. Menswear
8. Music
9. Photography
10. Stationery
11. Videography
12. Wedding Co-ordinators
13. Wedding Jewellery and Accessories
14. Wedding Flowers
15. Wedding Services*
16. Wedding Venues
17. Wedding Venue Dressing
18. New Wedding Business **
19. Wedding Registrars

Individual businesses only may enter, an entry consisting of two collaborating businesses will not be eligible.

* Companies supplying a service, such as gift companies, honeymoon providers and toastmasters, should enter the Wedding Services category.

** New businesses (trading under 12 months) may nominate themselves or be nominated.

Companies submitting an entry agree to expect a site visit from the judges if required.

We reserve the right to decline entry to any company.

The judges’ decision is final.

For Entrants

You will receive reviews from your previous customers and will be scored on a scale of 1 to 5 for each area of competence listed on the voting form. A qualitative analysis will take place and the companies with the highest average score will be the finalists subject to checks.

It is necessary to receive at least 4 votes for your entry to be validated and therefore progressed for quantitative analysis. We will record the customer comments for you to receive after the event.

Whilst we only require 4 votes to qualify a business for the finals, we take into account the number of votes received against your average score as a ratio.

If you are a finalist a qualitative analysis of your customers’ comments will take place to compare how well their comments match your mission statement. A winner is determined from this analysis.

Judges Choice Award

This award is the wild card award solely chosen by the judges to a company whose business impressed the judges so much that they felt recognition is deserved.

For the Voter

Reviews must be received by the close of business on Friday 28th July 2017.

Reviews will only be accepted from genuine customers who have used the company they are reviewing between 1st June 2016 and 28th July 2017. If any review is found to be fraudulent, the supplier will automatically be eliminated from the Awards.

Reviews will only be accepted from couples that have used the service they are reviewing, if you are a family member or friend reviewing the product/service as the purchaser/consumer/payer then please fill out the form with the couples’ details not yours.

We reserve the right to decline entry to any reviewer not meeting the above voting criteria.
